Last year, I was researching for a WordPress template for my personal blog. I wanted something stylish and clean. No fluff and just the settings I need. Surprisingly, by that time, two themes were released and were slowly climbing ThemeForest top items chart. Even though I choose Zeen theme at the end, ContentBerg blog theme remained one my favorite theme list.
The theme is not quite popular among bloggers but I really want to change this with my review. The theme is super cool and I’m sure a lot of people will be surprised by the included options + the design of the theme.
Read my detailed ContentBerg WordPress theme review and see what I mean:
About ContentBerg Theme
ThemeSphere are the authors of this blogging template. You probably know them. They’re the creators of SmartMag. The best magazine theme of 2014. SmartMag is cool, but ContenBerg is way better.
It’s built to work flawlessly with Gutenberg. Clean and extremely feature-rich. It comes with a complete package for bloggers, writers, and serious content marketers.
These are some of the included features in the theme:
100% Gutenberg ready;
Google AMP supported;
Content focused article layouts;
WooCommerce integration for the store owners;
Cool-looking social sharing buttons;
Who Is This Theme For? And Is It For You?
If you’re blogger, or content marketer (kind of the same) you should definitely check this theme out.
The layouts of the posts are designed to make your content shine. Bold, clear text and nicely aligned featured images.
To be honest, I love the layout of this theme. Most themes stretch the text and you can barely read a post. This is not the case with ContenBerg. Your visitors will enjoy a premium reading experience. So, if you’re actively publishing articles, do check this theme.
How It Works:
OK, enough talking. Let’s see ContentBerg Blog theme in action. I’ll start with the installation process and we’ll later see what are the main functionalities of the template:
Installing WordPress Theme ContentBerg
To install the theme, you first need to purchase it from ThemeForest, obviously. Once you have the files downloaded on your computer, access your WordPress dashboard. Go to Appearance > Themes > Add New > Upload Theme > Install Now:
Activate the theme:
Once ContentBerg is active, the following message will appear prompting you to install the recommended plugins:
As you’ll see from the screen below, there are two categories of plugins:
List of Requited/Recommended plugins;
Optional & Advanced plugins;
I’ll install all plugins from category one. Not all of them are totally required but as you know, you can easily disable plugins after that.
Install ContentBerg Demos
ContentBerg blog theme comes with a couple of ready demos. You can see them on the official ThemeForest page or inside your dashboard.
Go to ContentBerg > Import Demos (or Appearance > Import Demos) and choose one of the available pre-designed layouts. You can also choose whether or not you want to import the full content or only the settings:
Once ready, simply click Import button.
After the process is complete, you can run the re-generate thumbnails. This feature will adjust the images to fit your theme settings. Once the process of regeneration finishes, you’re satisfied with the looks of your site, you can delete “Bunyad Demo Import” and “Regenerate Thumbnails” plugins. They aren’t needed anymore. You can safely remove them.
Now, let’s see what we need to do for the thumbnails:
Check the first box and click the first big button.
The process is not that slow. It will take around 2-3 minutes. Of course, if you have more images it will take longer.
Once this is done, your images will be perfectly aligned.
All ContentBerg options are available once you go to Appearance > Customize.
All adjustments are made on the life site. You don’t have to go back end forth between front and back end. Now, let’s start with the settings for the home page:
You can quickly configure a cool-looking homepage only by using the functions here. The tab here is divided into the following sections:
Home Layout: You can enable the Widgetized Homepage and simply build your homepage by placing widgets into widget area “Homepage Widgets”. If no widgets are set, will fallback to the home layout.
Home Slider: You can add slider on your home page. Currently, there are 6 different layout options;
Home Subscribe: This is the best option. Add subscribe button to your home page with a push of a button. Just enable the box, add your MailChimp URL (check this guide) and define your message.
Home Call To Action Boxes: Another really neat feature. You can add 3 custom boxes that will help you navigate your users to pages of your choice.
The features inside Header/Logo & Nav are quite straightforward. You can add links to your favorite social media channels, cart icon and also decide whether or not you want your menu to appear when visitors scrolls down.
The logo section is simple. You just add your logo and you’re set. Of course, you have the option for retina logo.
Posts & Listings
Things are quite interesting in the posts and listings settings. These options here are making ContentBerg theme really unique.
You can add meta elements inside your header:
Choose one of the following layouts from: Single Post & Layout:
You can allow people to Pin posts:
The design of the post pages is really unique. All of them are well-thought out and will surely make your site stand out from all the rest.
I ususally don’t talk about footer but ContentBerg comes with some cool footer settings. You can make your footer look like this:
Or like this:
These made with just a single push of a button.
I really like ContentBerg because it has the right amount of options. Besides everything I mentioned, there are just few other things worth exploring:
You can specify what to load on your category pages;
Add your social media handlers;
Decide whether or not you want sidebar;
Inside the Other Settings, you’ll find some really cool additions. I particularly find interesting the following two:
AMP theme styles: This will make your site look cool when using AMP plugin;
Gutenberg styles: Ticking this will enable our custom styles so that the backend is similar looking to frontend.
Under Performance tab, you’ll find the following options:
Make your images load “lazy.” This will increase your site speed.
Customizing Your Posts And Blog Section With ContentBerg Theme
OK, let’s finally explore how the content section of this bloggers favorite theme works.
To modify how your categories are displayed, go to Appearance > Customize > General Settings > Categories & Archives:
From here, you can modify how your blog posts will appear.
You can choose from 12 different options to display your posts. Remove (or not) the sidebar and also show the category description if you please.
Now, let’s access (edit) one of the available posts to see what are the options inside:
Layout Style: You can remove the sidebar if you wish;
Post Style: Overwrite the default post settings for this specific post;
Disable Featured: This is self-explanatory. If you wish, you can not show the featured image;
Featured Video/Audio Link: Add a link if you’re using video or audio;
Spacious Style: This is pretty neat. If disabled (No), your blog will look like this:
If you enable it though, ContentBerg will make your content nicely arranged in the middle of the page:
Neat, right? That’s why I really adore this theme.
Creating A Landing Page With ContentBerg WordPress Theme

Now, you can use WPBakery or Elementor to design your landing page. You can see how to use these two plugins from the links below:
ContentBerg works really well with all major page builders. You can create basically everything you want thanks to these plugins. The theme doesn’t offer extra features to customize your landing page but it’s not really necessary.
